As the evenings grow shorter and the hills of Nidderdale take on their autumn colours, we’ve been reflecting on what has been another wonderful summer here at Covill Cottages. It’s hard to believe that this was our third summer welcoming guests to our cottages – time really does fly when you’re sharing such a special place with others. To top it all we have enjoyed the most magnificent weather- warm but not too hot to spoil our guests experiences.

A Summer Full of Smiles
In our third summer welcoming guests, we’ve been delighted to see back familiar faces who have stayed with us before, as well as greeting new visitors discovering Nidderdale for the very first time. It’s always a joy to see our guests relax into the rhythm of the dale – whether that’s long walks across the moors, lazy afternoons by Gouthwaite Reservoir, or evenings spent watching the stars sparkle in our Dark Sky Reserve. It has been great to welcome a number of guests from overseas- including from South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong & Holand

One of the real highlights has been the wonderful feedback we’ve received. From families enjoying adventures with children, to couples escaping for a peaceful break, we’ve loved reading your reviews and knowing that Covill Cottages have become part of your treasured memories. Many of you have mentioned our cosy interiors, the beautiful views, and how perfectly placed we are for exploring Pateley Bridge, Grassington, and the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Highlights of Summer 2025
Wildlife sightings: Guests spotted everything from red kites and barn owls soaring overhead to hares darting across the fields. The natural beauty of Nidderdale never fails to impress.
Local discoveries: Many of you enjoyed browsing the independent shops and galleries of Pateley Bridge, trying Sunday lunches at nearby pubs, and even venturing out to sample local breweries and distilleries.
Relaxation at its best: Whether with a book in hand, or a glass of something chilled on a summer’s evening with a barbecue in the garden, Covill Cottages proved the perfect place to switch off and recharge.
Looking Ahead
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who chose to spend their holiday with us this summer. Your support has made our third season one to remember, and we’re already excited for the year ahead. Autumn and winter bring a new kind of magic to Nidderdale – crackling fires, frosty walks, and starry nights – and we can’t wait to share it with you. We are now looking to see what we can do even better to improve our guest experience.
