Two well appointed holiday cottages in the heart of Nidderdale
Covill Cottages offer two beautifully presented dog-friendly holiday cottages in Nidderdale, one of the most unspoilt corners of the Yorkshire Dales. Set above Gouthwaite Reservoir with far reaching countryside views, our cottages provide a peaceful rural escape that’s perfect for walking holidays, cycling breaks, and relaxing stays surrounded by nature.
Ideally located near Pateley Bridge in the Nidderdale National Landscape, Covill Cottages are within easy reach of some of Yorkshire’s best-loved destinations, including Fountains Abbey, historic Wensleydale, and scenic Wharfedale. The award-winning market town of Pateley Bridge, just five miles away, offers a great choice of independent shops, traditional pubs, and welcoming cafés.
Lakeview Cottage and Dalesview Cottage are set on the site of a former working farm and have been thoughtfully converted into comfortable, well-appointed holiday accommodation. Each cottage sleeps up to four guests, with a king-size double bedroom and a twin bedroom. For larger groups, both cottages can be booked together to accommodate up to eight guests.
Both cottages benefit from private parking and enclosed gardens. Covill Cottages also welcome guests travelling with dogs, allowing up to three dogs per cottage, with additional dogs considered on request.
Choose one of our pair of charming well equipped self contained holiday cottages set in the heart of the beautiful scenery of Nidderdale National Landscape.
The perfect place to wake up and take in your surroundings. No finer place to return to and relax in the evening. In summer you can enjoy an alfresco dinner in the private garden or a drink by the side of the stream. In winter you can snuggle up in front of the log fire.
We bought Covill Cottages in 2022 and after fully redecorating and furnishing them, we accepted our first guests in September 2022.
Kirsty and Luke live in Ramsgill, very close to the cottages. Thelma and Bob live a little further down the dale in Summerbridge. Collectively we have lived and worked in Nidderdale for over a hundred years. We feel very privileged to live in some of the most beautiful countryside in North Yorkshire in an area with such a strong community.
We have thrown our hearts and souls into making the cottages a warm comfortable and cozy space for our guests to enjoy. We take great pride in the many guests who have come back on repeat visits and the very positive feedback received.
Kirsty has spent her working life in Nidderdale in hospitality. For over 20 years she has been the House Manager for The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill which was until recently a highly acclaimed restaurant with rooms. With her attention to detail and artistic eye she has been responsible for making the cottages so attractive and charming. She is responsible for all the cleaning and preparation for the guest arrivals.
Luke works on a local country estate in conservation and land management. He looks after everything outside the cottages
Bob is a retired local GP and looks after all the administration, bookings and website.
Thelma is a retired optician and lends a helping hand with changeovers and more.
During your stay we are here for you if you require any help.

We enjoyed a 2-week stay in this beautifully appointed and very peaceful cottage this spring. Not only is it a wonderful location but the owners have made every effort to ensure that it's well equipped and beautifully presented. Thanks Kirsty for a top-notch stay!

We've recently got back from an enjoyable break at Dalesview cottage. Unfortunately we had to curtail our stay due to unforeseen issues with our elderly fur baby.
The cottage was well equipped and in a stunning location in this "quieter" part of the Dales. We got to meet and speak to the wonderful co-owner Kirsty on arrival.
The welcome pack was extensive and full of quality provisions and there were some valuable and well considered additional touches throughout.

Fantastic cottage in idyllic setting right on the Nidderdale Way. The cottage is warm and comfortable with everything you might need to self cater including baking equipment but with The Sportsman’s and The Crown at Lofthouse within a couple of miles for eating out. Beds are really comfortable and it’s all so clean and attractive. We love the decor and Kirsty always provides little extras to look forward to like local honey, fresh eggs and chocolate treats. Walk out the door to see curlews, barn owls, oyster catchers, hawks. We continue to be regular visitors to this stunning location.

We had a fantastic time on our stay at the cottage to extend my 50th birthday celebrations. It had everything we needed and wanted. I’m very familiar with the area anyway so this excellent place to stay was the cherry on the top ! Thank you.

Lovely home just a short drive from Pateley Bridge. Booking and check-in were very straightforward and clear. The house is well-appointed with everything you need plus some very thoughtful extras thrown in for both human and canine guests :) I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Nidderdale area, and would surely book again. 10/10.

Had a lovely stay at Dalesview with my dog Lottie. The cottage was Cosy and Kirsty had thought about everything that you may need when staying, so next time I will leave my ‘kitchen sink’ at home!
Lovely views of the Dales and we had some good trips out including Brigham rocks, coldview beck, Frewstone and Scar house resivors. Pately bridge is worth a visit for the hot chocolate shop alone, had a lovely meal at the Royal Oak. Will stay again.
