What’s On for Kids This Summer?
Whether you’ve got toddlers in tow or teens to entertain, there’s plenty to keep everyone happy just a short drive (or walk!) from your doorstep.
Meet the Animals
Nidderdale Llamas (just 10 minutes away) offers unique trekking experiences – children (over 7 years) can meet, groom, and walk with their own llama!
Studfold Adventure Trail near Lofthouse, is a magical day out with fairy houses, treasure hunts and nature challenges that little ones love.
Outdoor Adventures
Hire a canoe or paddleboard at How Stean Gorge, or try gorge scrambling and rock climbing for something more daring (suitable for older kids and teens).
Enjoy scenic family walks or bike rides around Gouthwaite Reservoir – keep an eye out for herons, curlews, and maybe even an otter!
Castles, Steam Trains & Sweet Shops
Hop on a vintage steam train at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway – a big hit with younger visitors.
Explore the caves of Stump Cross Caverns or take a family tour at Fountains Abbey, both within 30 minutes’ drive.
Visit Pateley Bridge, just five minutes from the cottages, to explore quirky gift shops, grab a cone of Yorkshire ice cream, or stock up on treats at England’s oldest sweet shop!
